Republican candidates don’t want a YouTube debate

Presumably this has something to do with the way the Democratic YouTube debate went. Too bad: The questioning is less controlled, and I suppose the candidates think it’s beneath their dignity to be asked questions by animated snowmen and so forth, but the YouTube debate was useful in that it gave actual non-journalists and non-politicians the chance to ask questions. I don’t think this will play well. The only Republican candidates who have signed on are John McCain, who has nothing to lose, and Ron Paul, who — in addition to having nothing to lose — has shown strong willingness to engage with distributed media.
